The stars all aligned for Portumna and District Lions Club on Sunday, 12 June 2022, as we enjoyed a Memorial Walk to remember past members and friends and to celebrate 25 years of volunteering in our communities – Abbey, Duniry, Boula, Gortanumera, Portumna, Tynagh, Killeen, Killimor, Tiernascragh, Looscaun and Woodford.
The icing on the 25th Birthday Cake was our ‘Club of the Year Award’! The trophy stood proudly at our evening celebration, at Modena Restaurant in Portumna, where our incoming DG, Gerald Cashman and Zone Chair, James O’Loughlin, presented the ‘Melvin Jones Fellowship Award’ to Frances Robinson’s family posthumously, for her service in our community. Frances (RIP) was an active Lions Club member, former President and current Secretary when she passed away in July 2021.
Mona Eames, President and founding member of the club which was formed in 1997, paid special tribute to Francis and all deceased members of the Club.
